Who, What, Why?

So who are we? What are we about? Why are we doing this?

Creating Wisecrack Roasting is the culmination of years of searching, traveling, working, researching, and trying to tie together a myriad of interests and skills. We thought long and hard about a lot of things before starting this. It's our desire to apply our accumulated wisdom to a pursuit where the results are meaningful to us. A pursuit that drives us to get up in the morning to create something we can share with folks who will appreciate it. At its core it stems from our instinctual need to work with our hands to passionately create something we are proud of.

As we let the idea of roasting our own coffee develop, it blossomed not just into a business concept, but one that brings together all of the things that pique our interest, motivate and inspire us, and drive our passion for life. We are by nature very, very curious. And for us, that is enough. Enough to invest our time, money, and effort into seeing if we can arouse and awaken your curiosity. 

Being true to our nature, we generally don't do things halfheartedly. When we do it we usually go all in. Total immersion to the point of obsession. Life is short right? Why build a shed, when you can build an out-building? Why learn an instrument, when you can start a band?  Why buy a disposable, countertop kitchen appliance when you can buy industrial grade machinery? Right? Yep - that kind of commitment.  

We love coffee. Of course we do. We love it black. We love it as a creamy espresso shot. We love it on occasion as cappuccino. We think it's safe to say that no other commodity in the world is as diverse in its possibilities. And we love this for it represents an endless "choose your own adventure novel." Coffee opens our eyes.  Not just literally in the morning, but on a larger scale, to the world. It offers a glimpse around the corner, of what else might be out there for us to try. The flavors, the heritage, the process, the cultures. So many choices, so many regions to choose from, so many Senses to Awaken.

Great you say. But why coffee? Isn't there enough? There are lots of coffee roasters out there. Isn't coffee everywhere, on every corner? Sure - maybe. But is there enough Really Good Coffee? Take a minute to ask yourself... When was the last time you had coffee that made you say, wow this is not just some tasty coffee, this is a totally different beverage? Can you remember? We sure can, we say it Every Single Day. 

We believe that Coffee is Creativity. The number of ways coffee can be expressed,  whether through farming, roasting, or brewing, are literally infinite. We apply our creativity to everything we do, especially our coffee. Our creativity is born from our insatiable curiosity for almost everything. That leads us down a path of learning every single day. And ultimately it leads us to more wisdom.  

So this is what we do. Better yet, it's one of the many things we do. We roast, we drink, we play, we talk, we work hard, and we try to take time to appreciate the important things in our lives. People, community, wisdom. Coffee makes that experience better. Our journey in coffee metaphorically takes us to a new continent every day! We encourage you to jump aboard and and travel with us, metaphorically of course. It's been a fantastic voyage so far.
