WISE:DUMB?

At Wisecrack we like to try and stay current with the blog to engage you will a useful range of coffee related, worldly topics. But sometimes we are too busy roasting to keep up the pace. So we wanted to have a place where we could put thoughts and ideas that will hopefully provide you with a quick fix of additional wisdom. Hence the page name - Wise:Dumb. This is a great place to kick off your new found love of Slow Mornings!

We think the content here deserves to be more "evergreen" so we decided to give this content its own dedicated page. Not to worry though - this is Wisecrack after all, so we promise to keep the subject matter relatively light, but at the same time thought provoking. Again, we want to promote thought and discourse here, it's in our mission & promise after all.

So we welcome you to grab a fresh cup of coffee, a comfy seat, and take a read through.  Hopefully you will find some wisdom to be gained here. And remember to take it with a grain of salt. The content that is, not the coffee! This is just one perspective after all. Come to think of it, that brings us to an interesting bit of wisdom we are pretty sure you have never heard of before. If for some reason you happen to find yourself drinking some bitter brew you mistakenly bought elsewhere (certainly not Wisecrack coffee)...here is a Quick Tip

Otherwise by all means, jump right into the content here and enjoy the reading!

Here are some quotes that stuck with us over the years. You might say they provided an inspirational foundation and concept for what we are trying to do at Wisecrack Roasting Company.

"Sentiment without action is the ruin of the soul."
-Edward Abbey

"A man who works with his hands is a laborer; a man who works with his hands and his brain is a craftsman; but a man who works with his hands and his brain and his heart is an artist."
-Louis Nizer - Between You and Me, Beechurst Press, 1948.

“Coffee – the favorite drink of the civilized world.”
— Thomas Jefferson

"I am on a curiosity voyage, and I need my paddles to travel. These books are my paddles. I need my paddles!"
— Dustin Henderson (Gaten Matarazzo), Stranger Things, Season 2: Chapter Three: The Pollywog

"Never downplay something you really believe in, something that really makes you happy, because that's when you're the most creative. When you're doing something you really enjoy, you get that spark of creativity, and that's what drives the human soul. Make a difference, and feel good about it. Don't lose that one thing, even if it's contrary to everything that everyone else says - keep it alive, and you'll find that it will take you to the next step."
-Richard Cunningham

“Great minds discuss ideas, average ones discuss events, and small minds discuss people.”
-Eleanor Roosevelt

Coffee: Not quite the most traded Commodity in the world.  But certainly the most tasty!

Excluding water, coffee is 2nd only to tea, as the most consumed beverage on the planet. It's truly a gift, and yet its fate is hardly guaranteed. It's an important livelihood for millions of really hard working people across the equatorial "bean belt." And one can't begin to quantify its influence on productivity in more developed countries. If nothing else, it's a cornerstone of discourse worldwide.

Crazy Right? But that's the thing...so many people take it for granted. Would you be happy without "your coffee" every day? There is so much more to appreciate about coffee. It's our goal to open your eyes to that fact.

And it's not just coffee we want to get you thinking and conversing about. So don't be surprised when you see some creative posts, or products, or ideas that are meant to get you thinking. It's all about discourse, thought, and community. Here's how we like to remind ourselves to keep our heads out of the sand and stay engaged...
